christmas in idaho

December 24

Mitch worked on the 23rd and the 26th, so we stayed home in Idaho for Christmas. We were planning on visiting family the weekend after when Mitch had a few days off. It was great that Mitch had Christmas Eve and Christmas Day off. We were lucky, since several of the residents had to work those days.

Oh, and Makenzie gave her first talk in primary and did so great!!

 



Christmas Eve was a fun day. We were able to just spend time as a family. Makenzie decorated cookies for Santa and we went to lunch at Pizza Pie Café. Later that evening we had a couple of other first year residents over for dinner and games. It was great to be able to be able to talk and play games! After dinner we gave the girls their traditional Christmas Eve pajamas and watched a movie about the Nativity. The girls then put out the cookies and milk for Santa and carrots for the reindeer. Then it was off to bed for the littles! Makenzie was so excited for Santa to come to our house!

Makenzie actually didn't touch him with her kiss. She was so afraid his magic would go away.

 

Christmas morning came after 8 for our family. Mitch and I woke up to the girls playing in their room. We laid in bed for a while just listening to them. Mitch finally decided to go knock on their door and remind them we had a special visitor the night before. We thought with how excited Makenzie was that she would wake up and run out all excited. Instead, she forgot!

She loved everything, but I think her favorite was the oranges from the stockings. I think she ate 7 throughout the day!

 

 

We spent the morning opening presents, then had breakfast. Our girls like to eat as soon as they wake up, so they kept asking to eat everything out of their stockings. I think in the future we'll just have some muffins and fruit to eat during the present opening.

 

The rest of the day was spent playing, watching movies, and talking and skyping with family. It was a good day. We hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
