seattle

November 5

Since Portland is only about 3 hours from Seattle, we decided to head up there for a night. We got there around noon, so we headed straight to Pike Place Market. Parking is crazy expensive, so we parked a little ways away for a reasonable amount. Knowing we would be walking a lot, I strapped Alex to me. We were surprised she was able to still fit in the carrier!

We had lunch at a café at the market.
Beautiful view of the ocean!

After lunch we headed down to the pier.
Makenzie gets pretty creative with posing for the camera.

That night we were able to have dinner with some friends from Louisville. They moved to Seattle the summer before we moved.
It was so great to catch up and let the kids play.
They are such great people!
Thank you Wenerstroms!

Our second day in Seattle started with a trip to The Root Beer Store (recommended by the Wenerstroms). It's a little shop filled with different brewed root beers. We decided to buy 12 different ones and to have a little tasting later.

Can't go to a root beer store without getting a root beer float!

We drove by the Space Needle.
(we're too cheap to pay to go to the top)

The one thing I really wanted to do was to ride a ferry.
We just did a round trip on the ferry.
It was chilly, but fun.

Another one of our traditions is stopping by NFL stadiums.
We had to get a picture of Mitch outside the Seahawks stadium!

Our last stop before heading back to Kate's was the Seattle Temple. I love being able to show the girls the different temples.

A bunch of crazy girls!!

After getting back to Kate's we just hung out for the evening and tried a few of the root beers we picked up in Seattle.

Another great couple of days.
We love exploring new places!
