The night before graduation there was the Convocation Honors dinner held at the Galt House Hotel downtown. The evening started out with a little bit of drama. Mitch's parents flight had been delayed, so they didn't arrive until right before the dinner. Mitch and Makenzie left in time to get to the dinner and I stayed home waiting for Bret and Carolyn with Alex. Mitch's grandparents had also come for graduation, but they stayed back at our place to watch Alex. Since Makenzie had been there for the entire 4 years of medical school we thought it would be fun to take her. She loved the idea of dressing up for a fancy dinner!
Mitch's parents and I arrived a little late, but nothing had started, so it worked out well. We had a nice dinner and then they recognized those graduating with honors. They also gave out several awards. Mitch was recognized for the following honors:
Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society
Gold Humanism Honor Society
Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society
Graduation Magna Cum Laude
It was pretty awesome to hear his accomplishments! Makenzie was the only child there, but she had a fun time. The only thing that I think she didn't like was that they gave her a regular entree instead of the chicken fingers. However, she loved all of the mini desserts!
Us with Mitch's parents.
They were so great to come after a long day of travel.
And with my parents.
During the awards, they opened up the dessert bar and my dad came back with a plate full of desserts.
Lucky for us it was to share :)
